RDCK SERVICE 279, REC 10 UPDATE:
Balfour, Harrop, Procter, Queens Bay, Longbeach
Rec10 will continue to deliver recreation grants to Area E East under a new service and funding model. The previous funding model projected a service cost for 2024 of $43,782. The new funding model will cost $15,980 and still deliver $12,500 of grant money in 2024 to area community societies.
A huge thank you to the RDCK Manager of Community Services for finding the time to work with me and get this included into the recently adopted RDCK Financial Plan and to those who attended the public meeting in Balfour.
This Rec 10 Service is now something that can still be funded primarily through grants sustainably, instead of increasing your taxation.
Past projects funded by Rec 10 include after school care at Redfish School, Seniors Yoga, Golf for Kids, and many other great programs! The criteria to apply is status as a non-profit organization, and a recreation or leisure related project.
While I work through the changes to the service, as a temporary measure, local societies are encouraged to apply for this spring Rec 10 grant cycle by contacting me directly with your project ideas by April 15, 2024. Once pre-approved, community development grant applications need to be submitted by April 30, 2024.
The recommended maximum amount is $1,500 per application or you can discuss other requirements with me directly. I look forward to hearing about your project ideas!
